Paul Media Law is an entertainment business affairs consulting and legal services firm specializing in the representation of television and feature film talent, production studios, TV networks, digital platforms, video game companies and other media and technology enterprises.
David Paul
David Paul, the principal and founder of Paul Media Law, is a business affairs advisor/negotiator and transactional media attorney with significant experience handling a wide range of business and legal matters for entertainment companies and individual artists in the TV, film, new media and interactive/video game industries, including development, rights acquisition, production services, co-production, distribution/licensing and talent deals (e.g., writer-producer, director, performer and non-writing producer deals). He is especially well-versed in analyzing complex rights matters and structuring and negotiating deals to option and/or acquire source material rights
(e.g., book, format, podcast and life rights deals).
After graduating from UC Berkeley's School of Law, David began his business and legal affairs career representing tech and media entrepreneurs in the San Francisco Bay Area as an associate at Cooley LLP (widely regarded as one of Silicon Valley's go-to law firms, according to Law360). Driven by a deep interest in the intersection of media and technology, David eventually relocated to Los Angeles to devote his professional life to helping businesses and individual talent working in television, film and other media industries navigate the evolution of entertainment to a digital world. Since then, he has served as a business affairs negotiator and legal advisor for many of the leading brands in entertainment, including Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, Universal Content
Productions, the NBC, USA and SyFy networks, Paramount, Vimeo, Legendary Entertainment,
MGM/Amazon Studios and Skydance Media.
David lives in Los Angeles with his wife and 2 daughters, and takes advantage of the beautiful weather whenever possible. If not advocating for or otherwise supporting his clients, he is likely off hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding or playing tennis.
